WHAT CAN I LEARN IN THIS CLASS?Through perseverance and dedication, all students will gain new knowledge and new skills with coordinated footwork that will be the foundation of good body movements and correct angling. We teach correct body mechanics stressing the economy of movement. Students can learn the timing and accuracy to meet any attack with the minimum of risk. We teach the signature moves of Grand Master Remy A. Presas “De Flow” and “Counter the Counter”. These require good sensitivity and awareness skills for the many different aspects of combat; Disarming and reversing, trapping and joint-locking techniques. We teach empty hands, blade work, grappling, striking and kicking techniques. From day one, students are drilled in countering attacks and eliminating their opponent’s offensive tools. After consistent training, a student should feel confident in possessing a practical foundation that can be used to protect him/herself in many self-defense situations. With constant repetition of counters against progressively faster and more complex attacks, student can quickly react to and overcome a multitude of weapon and open hand attacks.
Toma’s Modern Arnis is a system that is both creative and functional as well. It encompasses all aspects of martial combat. From double sticks, to double daggers, to empty hands work, pinning, throwing, and locking.
Perhaps the most single identifying feature of this system is its ability to “flow” and adapt to the fluidity and unpredictability of any oncoming attack.
Take some classes and stick it out long enough to really learn a great martial art and a skill that you can use with any other martial system: “Your art within your art.”
Never any Contracts!
